“Joy” - December 23, 2020
But the angels said to them, ’Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.’ Luke 2:10
For most us this Christmas will be like no other, especially with the tightened restrictions that are being put in place over the next few days. We will miss being with each other, with family, loved ones and friends we haven’t seen for quite some time.
Especially as followers of Jesus, we will miss not being able to share our joy in the same manner as we are accustomed to at this time of year. But all this change doesn’t mean that we need to be totally bereft of joy. What can remain for us is the person at the heart of true joy. At the center of the angel’s ‘good news of great joy’ is Jesus, the Christ-child. Jesus remains with us and in us whatever our circumstance personally or collectively, sharing his joy. “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” (John 15:11)
May the joy of the Lord that comes through the story and good news of our Saviour’s birth, be with you all.
Today’s song JOY TO THE WORLD is offered by Vancouver’s Universal Gospel Choir. Notice that as more and more frames of individuals appear, each person manages to radiate joy in their own unique way, something worth emulating!
