REFRESHING OUR PRAYER
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer” (Romans 12:12)
Some practices to help to refresh…
- Choose a Psalm. Think about what it teaches you about praying. Write or simply offer a prayer that includes words or ideas that you have learned from the Psalm.
- Take time for a silent prayer that includes stretches of simply “listening” to God and what might be placed on your heart and mind.
- FOR CHILDREN: Sit down with your children and make a list of prayer concerns. Think of family members, church family members and a few items current in the news. Place this list in a prominent place (your fridge, family bulletin board, etc.). Incorporate items into table or bedtime prayers. Repeat this exercise after a week to update the list. Try to make this a weekly habit or pattern.
