    Congregation Meeting Dec 11, 2019

    December 14, 2019

It was a full agenda for the congregational meeting last Wednesday evening but we moved through it well!  It included informative and inspiring presentations on Exousia-Dunamis(Rose Skinner), Ark Aid (Wade Foss), Open Homes Hamilton (Danielle Steenwyk-Rowaan), the work of the deacons (Harry Jeninga), and the 3 Minute Rule (Steve teBokkel).  Our first ever “working coffee break” led by deacon Denise Callcott generated lots of fun and fellowship as we put together around 75 care packages for Refuge Ministry while drinking coffee and chatting.  (Who says a church can’t walk and chew gum at the same time?)

During his presentation on Ark Aid, Wade Foss pointed us to this question of Jesus from Matthew 6:23 “If then the light within you is darkness, how great is the darkness?”  It is a rhetorical question which underscores the depth of the darkness that tragically can be present in our world and in people’s lives.  May it be our ongoing prayer that in all of the meetings, gatheringsactivities and ministries of Bethel Church we will continue to be people who push back on the darkness by bringing forward the light of the world, Jesus Christ.  -EGN
